What Happens When A City Is Selected As A Smart City?

Selecting a locality for the smart cities mission shifts the entire continuum of real estate for the locality. It is more than just a name; the locality also gets access to a greater level of direct central government funding. As officials improve the infrastructure of the locality by investing in a more reliable drainage system, smoother roads, and a 24/7 water supply, the demand for property will increase substantially.
Here is why the market shifts so quickly:

Rapid Rate Appreciation: Property prices hike by 15%-30% after a new investor and new home buyer make a purchase. This means they are betting on the prospect of the city.

The Hub Phenomenon: Young professionals relocating to a new city require served accommodatIon. With the right technologies, such as high-speed 5G/6G internet and smart offices, city planners are able to attract and retain tech talent.

Suburban shifts: The new Metro lines and coming Electric Bus routes push the city center as a place to live. The new quiet outskirts become very appealing to first-time home buyers.

Smart is safe: The more tech-driven a community is, the safer it feels to families. This is true of AI-driven traffic lights and connected CCTV systems. These smart features keep the property value from bottoming out.

Surat and Indore have proven the model goes from promising to premium in a matter of years, pulling wealth from heavily populated centers like Mumbai. A smart city investment is a financial safety net.
