The Smart Cities in Karnataka Mission was launched in 2015 by the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India. 100 cities across all states were selected to complete this project. Several cities in Karnataka were selected to become smart cities.

Objectives and Strategy of Smart Cities in Karnataka

The Government of India selected six cities in Karnataka for inclusion in the Karnataka Smart Cities list, based on the quality of resources available in the state. The program aims to provide an Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC) along with smart roads, electronic toilets, non-motorized transportation plans, and more. The program’s initial goal was to establish an Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC). To create this, information was collected to expedite the program’s completion.

Financial Progress for Smart Cities in Karnataka

A total of ₹1,325 crore was allocated to the six cities on the Karnataka Smart City list. However, the Karnataka government announced a grant of ₹978 crore. This funding was distributed in three phases:

Quantum City Project in Bengaluru

The Karnataka government Karnataka has given approval to land for the proposed Quantum City (QCity) project. The area totals 6.17 acres. It is situated in Hesaraghatta close to Bengaluru. This can be considered part of a larger scheme called”the Quantum Mission. The aim of the mission is to establish the world’s first quantum economy in 2035. Karnataka is determined to become an international leading quantum technology company. The state wants to become one of the leading quantum centers in Asia.

What the Project Includes

The new hub will have several important facilities. It will include advanced laboratories. It will also have production areas for making quantum hardware. A Quantum High-Performance Computing (HPC) Data Centre will be a part of the project. The goal is to bring different groups together. These groups include companies, researchers, and startups.
