Noida International Airport – Validation Flight Testing
Noida International Airport successfully completed its validation flight test on December 9, 2024. This validation test was conducted using one of IndiGo’s A320 passenger aircraft. The flight departed from Indira Gandhi International Airport and arrived at Noida International Airport, located in Jewar.
Conducting a validation flight is a mandatory requirement for obtaining an aerodrome license. This license is crucial, as it constitutes the initial step in the process of commencing commercial operations at any airport. Validation flights are essential; this specific validation flight was planned to verify compliance with the airport’s regulations and operational protocols. It was designed to assess the accuracy of both the navigation equipment and the air traffic management systems.
Following the validation flight, the project advanced toward the final approval stage. The team is currently focused on securing the DGCA license, a process that is nearing completion.
Final DGCA Approval in Sight
An update was released following a review visit conducted on November 27. The airport has now reached the final stages of securing approval, and the team is working towards opening it in February 2026. This visit marked the second such inspection within a span of three weeks, underscoring the rapid pace at which construction work is currently progressing.
Airport officials have announced that the DGCA license is nearly ready. A two-day inspection was conducted by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS). The BCAS team examined critical security systems, such as:

- Anti-hijack and bomb safety units
- Entry points with access control
According to the Nodal Officer for NIAL (Noida International Airport Limited), the airport has cleared all inspections. The BCAS has also submitted an official report—a mandatory requirement before the DGCA grants approval for the aerodrome license. This constitutes one of the final stages required before the airport can be opened to the general public.
